| The City Hindus Network in partnership with the Oxford Centre for Hindus Studies put together a first-of-its-kind ‘Day of Leadership course from Indian Sources.’
‘A Day of Leadership from Indian Sources’ is a full day course that took place on 7th August at the OCHS in Oxford. It is the first course of its kind intended to address the needs of City professionals in understanding Hindu culture and identity. It is aimed not only at Hindus who want to learn more about their rich heritage, as well as others who interact with India in their work, or have an interest in the culture but would like to develop their understanding of the basis of not only Hindu, but Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, and Indian-Muslim cultures. Hindu philosophical texts are the oldest known to man, and are in continued use today. From these texts the daily life of 800 million Hindus are formed, and the influence of the paradigms of Indian philosophy are felt throughout the East, as far afield as Japan, and Bali. The course proposes to extract the key concepts of Hindu thought and practice for a day structured around four key sessions, bringing attendees on an educational excursion through the bazaars and temples of the Hindu mind. The sessions will aim to cover philosophies behind Hindu leadership, Hindu strategic thought and practice, measuring the concepts of ‘gain’ and ‘success’ and the understanding of and application of Dharma. Lunch and refreshments were provided and the course ran for the whole day for a course fee of£95. The CHN hope to run a similar course in the summer of 2011.
